Year 5 have been working with Wigan Education Business Partnership.

We have been working together and developing our personal capability skills.

In Literacy Year 5 have been reading, writing and following instructions.

They have created their own card games and would love you to have a go at following their instructions and playing their games.

Singles

• The aim of the game is to get one of every card.
• Shuffle the cards (take the jokers out)
• 2-4 players.

RULES OF PLAY

• Deal seven cards to each player.
• Place the rest of the cards face down in the middle
• Ask the player on your right for a card that is one above or one below a card that you have (e.g. if you have a 2 you can ask for a 3 or an ace.)
• Continue round the circle anticlockwise.
• If the player you are asking doesn’t have the card you ask for, pick a card up from the pile of cards in the middle.
• If that player does have that card they must pass it over

HOW TO WIN

• You win by getting one of every card, but you can not have any spare cards left.
• You keep playing until you get rid of your spare cards.

ROYAL SLAP

The aim of the game is get all the cards

•                       Deal all the cards out equally
•                       Choose one of the players to start.
•                       Players take turns to place a card face up in the middle.
•                       If a player places a jack, queen, king or ace the players must slap their hands down on the pile and shout the card name out loud.  The player to do this first wins the pile.
•                        If you put a joker down, you automatically win the cards in the middle of the  circle
•                       If you loose all your cards you are out. 

RULES OF PLAY                      

• Don’t look at your cards.                      
• The person with all the cards wins the game.
• Don’t put the cards down slowly put them down fast.

Thumbs up

 Aim of the game : to collect two pairs.

• 4 players or more
• Take all the jokers out
• Shuffle cards
• Give all players four cards each
• The dealer puts  the rest of the cards in front of them
• The dealer takes a card  from the pile
• Then pass the card around or keep the card if you need it for a pair, keep it and swap it with one that you don’t need.
• When the card has gone all the way round the circle place them in a pile
• When all of your cards are pairs put your thumb up
• When the other people notice they have to put there thumbs up. The last person to notice gets an “o” and so on until you spell “out” then you are out of the game.

 The Aim Of The Game Is To Get Rid Of Your Cards!!!

•   2-4 players
•    Leave the jokers out.
•    Take two Kings, two Queens, two Jacks and two Aces and one of every other card.  Shuffle them and place them face down in rows of six.
•    Deal the rest of the cards out equally.
•     Then look at your cards and see if you have any pairs, if you do put them down in front of you.
•    In turn pick a card out of the middle then turn it over and see if it matches to make a pair in your hand.
•    If it does then put the pair down in front of you.  Then place a card that you do not need face down in the middle.
•    If it doesn’t match then put it back in the middle without any one seeing it.
•    The one who has no cards left is the winner.

Prove it

          The aim of the game is to collect all the cards and keep all of your own

How to play

•                       The game is for 2-4 players
•                       Shuffle and deal the cards equally
•                       E.G. I’ve got 2 jacks and I say I have 2 jacks and  someone says prove it and you are telling the truth you win 2 of their cards but if you are lying they win 2 of your cards
•           If you agree the game carries on.

Highest  wins

       The aim of the game is to get the highest total

                  How to play

• Shuffle the pack
• Deal three cards to each player
• Put the rest of the cards aside as they are not needed
• Each player adds up the numbers on the cards in their hand: jack=11,  queen=12, king=13
• The player with the highest total wins

Even pairs

           The aim of the game is to get three pairs of even numbers

How to play

•                       Take the jokers out of the pack
•                       Deal 6 cards to each player
•                       Put the other cards face down in the middle of the players
•                       If you have any even pairs place them face up in front of you
•                       The dealer takes a card from the top of the pile.  If he needs it keeps it and he passes on a card that he does not want to the player on his left.  If he does not need it he passes the card straight on 
•                       If an unwanted card gets back to the dealer, discard it from the game
•                        The dealer continues taking and passing on cards until a player gets three even pairs and wins the game
•                       If nobody gets three even pairs, shuffle the discarded cards and continue play
